- Instructions for installing SONYB31A.ADD device driver for OS/2 versions
- 2.0 and 2.1:
- 1) Copy the file SONYB31A.ADD to the OS2 directory of the boot
- drive:

- ex.: copy A:\SONYB31A.ADD C:\OS2\SONYB31A.ADD
-
- 2) Add the following line to your OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file:
-
- BASEDEV=SONYB31A.ADD
-
- Note that it is not necessary to specify the full path to the
- file - OS/2 expects the file to be in the root directory or
- the OS2 directory.

- 3) The valid parameters and the associated actions are shown below.
-
- Parameter Action

- /A:d Identifies a specific adapter, d
- /P:hhhh Set base I/O port address for current adapter
- (this should be a four-digit value - use
- leading 0's if necessary)
- (default = 0340)
- /IRQ:dd Set the interrupt level used to dd for current
- adapter (default = none)
- /AT:dd Set the adapter type. Current legal values are:
- 00 = Sony CDB-334 (default)
- 08 = Media Vision PAS-16

- For example, to access a CDB-334 host adapter at IO port 360h,
- use the following line in your OS/2 2.x CONFIG.SYS file:
-
- BASEDEV=SONYB31A.ADD /A:0 /P:0360
-
- To access a Media Vision PAS-16 adapter, use the following
- line in your OS/2 2.x CONFIG.SYS file:
-
- BASEDEV=SONYB31A.ADD /A:0 /AT:08
-
- (the default port address for the CDU-31A in this case is
- 1F88h.)

- FOR USERS OF THE OS/2 2.1 BETA RELEASE(S):
-
- 4) Open the OS/2 System Folder. Open the System Setup sub-folder.
- Open the Selective Install application.
-
- 5) Click on the CD-ROM Device Support Checkbox. Click on the OK
- button.
-
- 6) Select "OTHER" from the list of CD-ROM devices. Click on the
- OK button.
-
- 7) Click on the Install button and follow the instructions displayed
- on the screen.
-
- FOR USERS OF OS/2 VERSION 2.0:
-
- 4) Download the file OS2CDR.ZIP from Library 17 of the IBM OS/2
- Support forum on CompuServe and follow the instructions given
- in that file. If you do not have an OS/2 account then you can
- download the file OS2CDROM.ZIP from file area 17 on the IBM
- PCC Bulletin Board. The number for this BBS is (404) 835-6600.

- FIXED IN THIS RELEASE:

- Previous version could only access the first 10 tracks (songs) of an audio
- CD.
-
- Previous version could not initialize the Media Vision PAS-16 card after a
- cold boot/power cycle/hard reset.

- KNOWN PROBLEMS:
- None.

- Any other problems found with this device driver should be reported to Sony
- by sending a message to Chuck Roman of Sony Corporation at CompuServe ID
- 74130,220. Messages will be checked between the hours of 7:30 and 5:00
- (Mountain Time Zone, USA) daily excluding (most) weekends and holidays. In
- order to prevent repetitive reports of the same problems, you may wish to post
- your message in the OS2USER forum (section 3), in the PSPBETA forum or in
- the CDROM forum (section 4). These areas are checked several times a day, so
- your message should be answered in a timely manner.
